Mini Trebuchet Project
For our trebuchet, we chose to do it based on 1200 century China. We had originally planned to make our trebuchet look more like the ones from 1200 century China by putting multiple supports in the middle like they had but we ran out of popsicle sticks. We represented by using yellow witch was a color that was prevalent in this time period. We also wrote Chinese symbols on out trebuchet. I feel we could have put more effort into making our trebuchet look more like out time period.
I feel the 21 centrury skill that i used the most in this project was critacal thinking. This was a very important skill because when problems came up with out deign we had go get past them. One example of this was when out trebuchet arm kept breaking we had to find a better way of glueing it. One area of growth we had during this project was collaboration. I feel me and my group member could have work harder to collaborate with each other to make our final product have both of out ideas in it more. Overall I feel we did a good job on this project there is always things we could have done better, but i feel we did what we could to make it our best in the time we had.

Rube Goldberg Reflection
To create our rubes we used many simple machines. In our rube we used a wheel and axle in the car with rolled down an inclined plane and into a cup witch started Coles step witch was a pulley. Our rube had potential energy when the car was resting on the track. This had potential energy because the car had the potential to roll down the ramp. The marble had momentum and speed when it rolled down the tube. Our rube demonstrated kinetic energy when the dominoes were falling.
Potential Energy (Joules) = Mass (m) x Gravity (g) x Height (h)
PE = potential energy
m = 7.0 grams …
7.0 g
1 kg
0.007 kg
1,000 g
= 0.007 kg
g = 9.81 m/s2
h = 50cm
50 cm
1 m
0.5 m
100 cm
= 0.5 m
Potential Energy = ( 0.007 kg ) x ( 9.81 m/s2) x ( 0.5 m)
PE = 0.0343 Joules
Then we were told to find the kinetic energy.
Kinetic Energy (Joules) = ½ (m) (v2)
m = mass (kilograms) v = velocity ( m/s) KE = kinetic energy
m = 7.0 g = 0.007 kg
v = 45 cm/s = 0.45 m/s
Kinetic Energy = ½ x (0.007 kg) x (0.45 m/s2) … (0.5) x (0.007 kg) x (0.2025)
KE = 7.0875 x 10-4 = 0.00070875 Joules
To come up with our final product for the rube we had to come up with our initial idea. To do this we had to come up with our steps and our satire to do this we bounced ideas off each other till we came up with a solid idea that we wanted to build on. After that we had to just refine our ideas and steps to make our final product look good, our satire work, and have our steps run smoothly. I think while working on our rube my groups greatest strength when using 21 century skills was collaboration. I believe this because our group worked really well together and we were able to overcome challenges we had easily if we worked together on them. I think where we could have had room for growth in is communication with in our whole group. While working on this project I think our group had okay communication but I think that we could have done more to communicate to the whole group what we needed to get finished so everyone had something to do instead of only some people doing their work.
